今年の夏（なつ）は 日本に 行きます！

私は　日本に　日本語を　勉強しに　行きたかったから、二月に　日本語の夏の学校に　申請（しんせい apply)しました。

その後（あと）、I was admitted by Princeton in Ishikawa. 学校は　

金沢（かなざわ）に　あります。　金沢は　にぎやかで　古いまちだとうもいます。そして、冬はくもりや雨の日が多く、積雪（せきせつ　accumulated snow)もありますけど、春や夏は好天（こうてん fine weather)の日が多いですよ。

(たくさん　古い建物（たてもの）が　あります。）

六月に　金沢（かなざわ）１００万石（ごく stone）祭り（festival) が　ありますよ。

私の 今 一番好きな日本のテレビDrama

このDramaのまえは　翼の折れた天使たち（つばさのおれたてんしたち）です。It is about the life of different young women. They struggled a lot in their life and finally conquered the obstacles.　私は深く心を打たれた。（ふかく　こころを　うたれた。I was deeply touched）。
今週　さんかい　テストが　あるので、とても　いそかしくて　ざんねんです。それから　今週の日曜日は　中国（ちゅうごく）のSpring Festival (New Year)です。私は　中国に　かえりたいです！

ちゅうごくで 私の一番好きな日本のレストラン！

I really miss ちゅうごくのたべもの which includes 日本のたべものas well!


No.1 宝寿司 （”寿司”は　すしですね。）

 

このみせは　とても　小さいが、ゆうめいですよ。私の高校のちかくに　あります。You have to order by phone at least an hour in advance otherwise you would have to wait there for three hours. No kidding!!

No.2 味千ラーメン

味千ラーメンは　私の一番好きなラーメンレストランです。たくさん　みせが　あるので、よく　いきます。It is like Japanese noodle KFC!

さしみの方が　まきより　高いですよ。でも　さしみも　まきも　おいしいです！

No.3 ぐるなび

ぐるなびは　大きい日本のレストランです。よく　りょしんと　友だちと　ひるごはんを　たべます。(Eating too much in the evening is not good so we usually go to this restaurant during lunch time:) )

レストランは　とても　きれいですね。

冬（ふゆ）休み

私のふゆ休みは　とても　いそかしくて　よっかたです。私は　中国(ちゅうごく)の上海(シャンハイshanghai)に　かえりました。

まいにち　ともたちに　あって　レストランで　ばんごはんを　たべで　たくさん　ねんました。中国(ちゅうごく)のりょうりは　とても　とても　とても　いいです！！私は　大すきです！

ふゆ休みに　スボーツを　しませんでした。そして　べんきょうを　しませんでした。でもともだちと　りょうしんと　中国(ちゅうごく)のえいがを　みました。


たくさん　かいものに　いきました。でも　モールに　いきません。私は　よく　アンライショピング(online shopping)。ちゅいごくのものは　とても　安いですよ！！　


今週の火曜日のあさの三時半に　りょうに　かえりました。サワスベンドが　あまり　すきじゃありません。


私の一番の好きなまちは　上海(シャンハイshanghai)です！！

すばらしい ちゅごくじんのSinger ＠日本のコンセート

私は　これsingerが　大すきです。まえは　Jane Zhangです。
とても　ゆうめいな日本人のmusician invited her to his concert in Japan. So in the first part and the last 30 sec there are 日本ご comments. I think we can understand part of that.

私のサンクスギビングの休み！

私のサンクスギビングの休みは　とても　たのしくて　よがったです！

水曜日に　私は　シカゴの中のルームメートのりょうしんのうちに　いきました。うちに　ルームメートと　ビデイオのガームを　して　たくさん　えいがを　みました。　えいがのまえは　Twilight と　２０１２です。　私は　Twightの本を　よみました。本は　おもしるくありません。でも　えいがは　いいですよ。私は　Twightのえいがが　すきです！

木曜日に　私は　うちに　ゆっくりして　でかけません。でも　たくさん　ばんごはんを　たべました。ターキーも　たべました。私は　ターキーもが　すきじゃありません：(　ルームメートのりょうしんのうちは　とても　にぎやかでしたよ！

金曜日に　私は　ちゅうごくじんのともだちに　あって　かいものに　いきました。ごご　るくじごろ　Chinatownのレストランで　おいしいのちゅうごくのりょうりを　たべに　いきました。ごご　じゅういちじに　サウスベントに　かえりました。金曜日は　いそがしかったですね。




This was my first thanksgiving experience. とても　たのしかったですね！

月曜日のばん　CSLCで　日本ごのえいが[青い鸟(blue bird)]を　みました。えいがは　とてお　よかったです。私は　日本ごのえいがが　大すきです。そして　おいしい　すしを　たべましたよ。すしも　大すきです。

火曜日に　calculusのテストが　ありました。テストは　どうでしたか？わがりません。（ToT）きのうのばん　FYCのえいが(Bowling for Columbine)を　みました。えいがは　かなしかったです。














水曜日のばん　ごじから　じゅうじまで　main buildingで　アルパイとを　します。 

木曜日のばん　COMOで　ともだちと先生と　エチケット ばんごはん (Etiquette dinner)を　たべます。

金曜日のばん　ともだちと　６じはんごろ　DPACに　いきます。DPACで　にほんごのえいがが　あります。　えいがのまえは　Still Walkingです。

わたしのへや

Pasquerilla East Hallのにかいに　わたしのへやが　あります。

これは　わたしのドア。ドアのうえに　きれいなきもの　と　あおい　こくばんが　あります。

へやのなかに　ちゃいろい　つくえが　あります。
つくえのうえに　あたらしい　ラップトップが　あります。そして　たくさん　本が　あります。本のうしろに　しろい　マグカップ(mug)が　あります。マグカップのよくに　かわい　かかし（Scarecrow）が　います。

つくえのうしろに　くとい　ソファが　あります。わたしは　たいてい　ソファのうえに　本を　よみます。
ソファのうえに　ふろい本棚（ほんだな）が　あります。あのほんだなのみぎに　あたらしい　テレビが　あります。へやのみぎに　わたし　と　ルームメト　の　ベートが　あります。あおいのは　ルームメトのです。


わたしのへやは　ひろりです。でも　ぜんぜん　あかるくありません。まどは　とても　ちいさいです！
わたしは　へやに　よく　べんきょします。ぜんぜん　パーチーを　します。

日本のいいテレビドラマ

きのうは　わたしのバースデー(birthday)でした。でも　わたしは　ビジネスのてすとのべんきょを　しました。ビジネスのてすとは　きょうのあさのはちじに　ありました。わたしは　とても　つまらないでした(tired)。


でも　それから(after that)　わたしのせいかつは　いいでした。


いま　わたしは　日本のいいテレビドラマを　みます。




I'm right now watching a Japanese TV series called 萤之光（ホタルノヒカリ）. It's about a kind of girls' lifestyle. In this drama, an interior decorator  is respected by her coworkers for being efficient and having good working habits. However, whenever there are company get-togethers, she does not attend them; instead she'd rather go home, eat junk food, and read manga all day. She also does not have a boyfriend, so she doesn't care how she dresses at home; you can find her in the grossest t-shirts with old stains and rips. In fact, she's so sloppy that she passes out underneath newspapers sometimes. In this drama (which was based on the manga), this description is called a "ひものおんな," or "dried woman." Actually in Chinese there is a similar word refer to ひものおんな. (exactly the same Kanji characters 干物女)

わたしは　きのう　べんきょしません。でも、きのうは　HUIさんのバースディでした。


HUIさんは　わたしのちゅうごくじんのともだちいです。にねんせいです。みなさんは　south dining hallで　ばんごはんを　たべました。それから ケーキを　たべました。ケーキは　おいしいでした！




じゅうじごろ　りょに　かえちました。りょは　きたないでした。:(
でも、きょのあさ、りょは　きれいですよ。


きよう　としょかんで　カタカナのテストのべんきょを　します。そしで　ビジネスのほんを　よみます。

about DEPARTURES

As this blog is about Japanese, I hope I can record everything related to Japanese in this blog. Maybe many years later when I read this blog again, I would laugh at these posts full of stupid grammar mistakes and recall all the unforgettable memory in my journey of learning this language.
(But still, I found my English too poor to express myself. It's hard to be trilingual at the age of 19.)

さんじに　DPACに　いきます。
I brought a friend with me today to watch the movie. When I was buying the ticket I met a upperclassman and he offered free movie tickets to me. (Wow, it's from Japanese club!)
I was a little bit surprised to see so many people in DPAC.

My friend and I are probably the only two people cried a lot during the whole movie. As a Chinese I deeply understand how important the departures are. My grandmother left me 20 days before I came to Notre Dame. It was really a tough time for me. It was even tougher to help my parents organize the funeral in the following days. （I don't think it's common to prepare the body in the person's home, neither in China nor in Japan, Hanabusa せんせい might know better than me about this tradition in Japan) It should be a respectful occupation if the person treat the dead body softly and kindly, it is "The gift of the last memories".

Is anybody else would like to share their words about this movie?

what I did today~

おそくなつて　すみません 。(I mean I'm sorry to write my log so late)
きようは　すいようびです。(It's a good day, though a little bit colder even under the sunshine.)
わたしは　あさ　おきます。あさごはんを　たべません。(Yes, I normally skip my breakfast. Sleep or breakfast, I choose sleep:) )
わたしは　Debartoloに　いきます。にほんごをの　べんきよおべんきょおをします。
Dininghallで ひるごはんを たびます。 ばんごはんを　たべます。(Although I live in north quad, I prefer south dining hall)
としゅがんとしょかんで　ばんきよべんきょおします。なかま(NAKAMA)を　よみます。
わたしは　コーヒーを　のみません。（no coffee!)
シャワーを あびます。おふろに　はいりません。
りよで ねます。

I found it so hard to retell my daily activities!! I don't know how to put "when" into my sentence.
But it is really exciting I can tell myself what I am doing now in にほんご！Hope I recite more nouns about the campus.

PS（にちようび）cinemaで　Departuresえいがを　みますを。I'm also going to bring my Chinese friend with me to watch that movie. Anyone else?

Hi everyone, I am Tian Ren from Shanghai, China. I normally go by Tia. I live in Pasquerilla East Hall. I haven't decided about my major yet, maybe one in business program and something else.

I decided to learn Japanese basically because of two reasons. One is the Tokyo program for study abroad, the other is my aunt's family in Fukuoka, a city in Japan. My aunt and uncle have been in Japan for over ten years and have two daughters. Their younger daughter is currently in an elementary school there. The elder daughter who is one year older than me studies in a Chinese university. Therefore, you might think I must really familiar with Japanese and Japanese culture. BUT!! The truth is: I've never been to Japan and actually know little about Japan!! Seriously!! When my cousin want to hide her little secrets from me, she speaks Japanese!! This freaks me out!! That's why I must learn Japanese here!

I have watched a lot of Japanese drama and cartoons since my junior high school (with Chinese subtitles of course!!) As a Chinese student speaking Mandarin, I am familiar with the Kanji in Japanese, but Kanji characters have different pronouciation and somtimes its meaning has changed a lot as time goes by.

So there is a long way to go for everyone la~
